During the summer here in South Florida it is hard to predict the weather as it fluctuates at a drop of a pin. With Jouleana’s Hollywood Beach quince photo shoot, the weather displayed the volatile South Florida weather perfectly. As early morning storms were brewing out at sea and making their way towards the shore we were blessed with some dramatic skies for Jouleana’s quince photo shoot and dramatic skies are always a great thing if you’re a photographer.
Hi, I’m JC Ruiz and I’m a color blind photographer. Your turn, “Hi JC.” Funny thing about being a color blind photographer is the misconception that I must take amazing black and white photographs or I must have a hard time with my post processing. Well 1 out of 2 isn’t bad, I do take some amazing black and white photographs hahahahahahaha I kid I kid. No but seriously I do hahahahaha I’m pretty sure if I never mentioned I was color blind people would never know the difference.
Nothing like a little Hollywood Beach family session to get the week started. Barnita was one of the people who purchased my Living Social ads early in the year for her and her daughter and she recently reached out to me for another shoot, but this time she also wanted to include her boyfriend, Troy. After trying to find a spot convenient for everyone, we finally agreed upon the boardwalk over at Hollywood Beach.
You truly have to love repeat customers. Perhaps you remember the Benedicts from their engagement photos or from their wedding photos. Like the continuing circle of life I have photographed their maternity photos. There was a rumor circulating that usually a week after I photograph an expecting couple they have their baby. Unfortunately Alex and Hayley have dispelled that rumor.
It would only be right that I photograph Dean and Jenean’s maternity shoot after doing their engagement and wedding photos. It is part of the natural progression of things and who am I to stop the natural progression? They couldn’t have picked a better day to shoot as well. Sunny skies and cool breezes were on tap for us that day. A recipe for a great time and even better photos.
Taking photos is difficult enough but trying to take maternity photos in the middle of summer in Miami is just brutal; however, Kia and Hayward were up for the task. The humidity was no joke that day. Thank God I suggested we shoot around 6:30 in the evening. I don’t even want to begin to think what a midday shoot in that sun would be like.
Yesterday I went over to my friend Vince’s house to do some family portraits of him and his three children. The Bell clan consists of Vince, his daughters, Dominique and Viniece, and his son, Vince Jr. Vince had mentioned he wanted some photos of his kids to hang through out his house so we set up something up for this weekend. I’ll just say once I got to the house the Bells came to do their thing.
I had the honor of photographing some maternity photos for my friends, Hugo and Dee, who are expecting their first child any day now. Dee texted me one day and we went back and forth for a bit and I agreed to help them out. I haven’t seen them since I’ve been back in FL, but then again I’ve only been back a week so I really haven’t seen too many of the old faces yet. I’ve known Hugo for about 10 years now and Dee just a little less. They’re a great couple and you couldn’t ask for two better people to be friends with.
