Nothing like a little Hollywood Beach family session to get the week started. Barnita was one of the people who purchased my Living Social ads early in the year for her and her daughter and she recently reached out to me for another shoot, but this time she also wanted to include her boyfriend, Troy. After trying to find a spot convenient for everyone, we finally agreed upon the boardwalk over at Hollywood Beach.
We met up at 6pm on the boardwalk and you couldn’t have asked for a better night. Cool temps, a nice breeze and not a lot of people around to be in the shot. I had a plan already in my mind when I scouted the area out prior to their arrival. I wanted a couple of shots on the boardwalk then move over to an empty life guard station and finish up around the water. I remember from my last shoot with Barnita and her daughter, Ava, that Ava likes the water so I wanted to minimized the chances of her getting wet until the end.
As soon as they arrived we quickly went into shooting mode as the sun was setting so I wanted to capture the soft light. I was able to go and hit all the places I had in mind which made my life easy. I’m glad I waited to the end for the water shots as Ava found the water. She had the time of her life playing in the water.
There were times where Ava was playing with sea shells and was more interested in that than getting her photo taken so I took the opportunity to photograph Barnita and Troy together. Couples who love each other make my job easy. I swear those two forgot I was there and that is the way I like it. Capturing the moment instead of forcing awkward poses.
All in all it was a great shoot. Got everything done in an hour and Ava had her ice cream afterwards.
