You truly have to love repeat customers. Perhaps you remember the Benedicts from their engagement photos or from their wedding photos. Like the continuing circle of life I have photographed their maternity photos. There was a rumor circulating that usually a week after I photograph an expecting couple they have their baby. Unfortunately Alex and Hayley have dispelled that rumor.
We tried a couple of times to get this shoot together, but usually the weather was the mitigating factor in the reason why I could not shoot Alex, Hayley and the unnamed Benedict baby. We had a couple of places in mind to shoot but we ended up shooting at Robbins Park in Davie, FL. It’s a quiet park unknown to most really. I only knew of it because of when I go horseback riding, we go through that park. It’s very spacious and wide open. A lot of trails for people and horses as well as a pasture where cows run free.
If you live in South Florida you understand how the summer months feel, so sticky and hot you know that was why I scheduled the shoot for early in the morning. Too bad by the time the Benedicts got their it was a freaking oven outside. I had to shoot quick and nail the shots right away. I didn’t want to make Hayley uncomfortable in that hot weather. So we shot quickly and moved from place to place.
There was another photographer there photographing a baby and her parents making some um, interesting sounds to get the baby’s attention. Needless to say Alex and Hayley were trying to pressure me into making those weird sounds to get their attention. I can’t even begin to describe the sound. It was like practicing your Spanish by rolling your R’s on the roof of your tongue. And like Forest Gump, that is all I have to say about that.
Afterwards we all went to the Pancake House for breakfast. That in itself was another adventure. We did coin a new word, “sprawter.” No need to go into details lol.
