Imagine thousands of people packed together on a hot day in May on Fort Lauderdale beach with their heads fixed on the sky as various types of planes and jets majestically danced among the clouds and that was how I would describe my experience at the 2016 Fort Lauderdale Air Show. I’m one for new experiences and seeing how I’ve never witnessed an air show in my life I thought the air show returning to Fort Lauderdale for the first time in a couple of years was a good time to check it out. Of course I had to bring my camera with me to try to capture the action with the emphasis on try. Some of those jets were fast.
I was recently hired by Carnival Cruise Line to photograph them at a travel agent focused convention called CLIA cruise3sixty at the Broward Convention Center. I was there to photograph the displays and staff as well as photograph the travel agents interactions with all the Carnival Cruise Line displays, especially the displays for their new ship, the Vista.
I was recently asked by the Sports Brothers to shoot the red carpet event for the Reid & Fiorentino Call of the Game Dinner. Eric Reid and Tony Fiorentino are the Miami Heat TV announcers and every year they have the Call of the Game Dinner which honors the work of the people “behind the scenes” who make a difference in the community. Some of the honorees this year include Miami legendary QB Dan Marino, renown artist Romero Britto and Jeff Fogel who suffers from ALS but still coaches his girl’s basketball team.
I was recently contacted by the photography manager from Golfsmith to photograph their Golfsmith in Pembroke Pines grand opening. It was a pretty sweet gig actually. They provided me with a well detailed shot list and the best part it was only a 2 minute drive from house. Talk about convenience.
I recently volunteered my time to photograph the golf charity event, The 3rd Annual Daniel Berrios Charity Golf Tournament, at the Miami Shores Country Club in Miami. The 3rd Annual Daniel Berrios Charity Golf Tournament was sponsored by The Law Office of Norman C. Powell and by Round Table Sports Bar. The 3rd Annual Daniel Berrios Charity Golf Tournament was in honor of Daniel Berrios who lost his life to muscular dystrophy.
Last Thursday I was invited out to the Reid and Fiorentino Golf Classic at Turnberry Isle Golf Course in Aventura, FL by the Sports Bros. to photograph some of the celebs and athletes that were there for the tournament. Last year I photographed the red carpet for the charity dinner, but I had a wedding to photography the same day as this year’s dinner. Eric Reid and Tony Fiorentino, are Miami Heat announcers and every year they have the Reid and Fiorentino Golf Classic as well as the “Call of the Game Dinner” which helps raise money for organizations such as Lauren’s Kids.
As resident photographer for South Florida’s premier event staffing and needs company, Miami Elite Events, not only do I get to photograph the talent that works for them, but I also get to photograph venues as well. I recently went down to South Beach to photograph the Breakwater Hotel and its rooftop patio area and adjoining suites. Nothing like having VIP access to a beautiful Ocean Drive hotel rooftop all to myself.
I was asked by the Plan Beats crew to come photograph them at the Art of Transformation in Opa-locka this past Friday night. The Art of Transformation was put together by the Opa-locka Community Development Corporation and their goal was to have an event that will launch Opa-locka’s “Community Gateways” project- a public arts project financed by the National Endowment of the Arts that will revitalize Opa-Locka with an award-winning team of national artists. Plan Beats would provide the entertainment through out the night until En Vogue performed their set.
I’ve known about Carnival Miami for some time but I’ve never attended before, but this year was going to be different. What an experience it was. The intricate costumes, the dancing to the beats of reggae and soca and of course how can I forget the food and drinks. All ingredients for a great Carnival experience. One that I won’t soon forget.
