With the arrival of the new year comes the prerequisite list of changes we all want to make. Some people want to lose weight while others want to start a new job or learn a new hobby. It feels like every year we all have the same resolutions or goals and after a month or so, those goals become a memory like the previous year. I’m guilty of this too. Every year I want to stop procrastinating. Of course I usually start sometime around late March or early April. Achieving your goals doesn’t happen overnight and if you don’t properly plan you’re basically setting yourself up for failure.
Pricing your photography; a constant battle most photographers have to fight on the regular. It’s a landmine of questions such as how to price your photography services or how much you should charge for a photograph. There is no easy way to determine what to charge as each photographer is different and has placed different values on their work. And once a photographer sets his or her’s prices then there is the constant haggling from potential customers that a photographer has to deal with. Pricing your photography and trying to stick those prices is a roller coaster ride of emotions within a photographer and it’s almost daily.
During the summer here in South Florida it is hard to predict the weather as it fluctuates at a drop of a pin. With Jouleana’s Hollywood Beach quince photo shoot, the weather displayed the volatile South Florida weather perfectly. As early morning storms were brewing out at sea and making their way towards the shore we were blessed with some dramatic skies for Jouleana’s quince photo shoot and dramatic skies are always a great thing if you’re a photographer.
I recently photographed maternity pictures for Lindsey who wanted to have a Bohemian inspired maternity photo shoot. It was a pretty easy process for me as Lindsey already had her maternity picture ideas already laid out and all I had to do was execute what she was looking for. Of course sometimes the execution is the hardest thing to achieve given the ever changing conditions outdoor photographers have to face, but I was pretty lucky this time around.
Do you know what is the best way to start off the new year? It’s photographing Heather and Lin at their Fort Lauderdale beach wedding. It’s kind of romantic starting off the new year by pledging the rest of your lives together to one another and I was honored to be there to take part in such a special occasion.
It’s funny that I haven’t step foot in the Florida Keys in over 10 years and in the past month I’ve been down there 3 times, twice for weddings. My last trip was to photograph Katie and John at the Postcard Inn in Islamorada, FL. It was the perfect day in the Florida Keys to have a wedding and I was glad I was there to capture it all.
Chad and Lloyda have quite the love story. Young love rekindled years after living separate lives apart from each other. Fate reunited them years later. The next chapter of their love story takes place at Oleta River State Park for a beach wedding and together they can have the rest of their lives to write new chapters daily of their life together as husband and wife.
When Camille Kaye came to me asking me to photograph her album cover for her new album, Solstice, I already knew where I wanted to shoot it, in the Everglades. I’ve worked with Camille numerous times before and we have a good rapport when it comes to me photographing her so I knew this time would be no different. We had a tight schedule and a very small window to get the shoot it, but like other times before we were able to make it happen and boy did we ever.
What’s a good way to spend a Sunday morning? How about photographing Monica and Gregg’s engagement photo shoot at sunrise at the Pompano Beach pier? You couldn’t ask for a better start to the day than that.
