What’s a good way to spend a Sunday morning? How about photographing Monica and Gregg’s engagement photo shoot at sunrise at the Pompano Beach pier? You couldn’t ask for a better start to the day than that.
I knew there would be some lingering clouds from the day before’s rain so I wanted to take advantage of them early before the sun could burn them off. I started photographing Monica and Gregg on the pier itself while the sun was coming up over the horizon. As we went a long more people were walking back and forth on the pier fishing so I moved us off the pier and onto the beach.
I brought my assistant, Paris, along with me for her favorite activity, reflector duty but the way the morning was shaping up I wasn’t going to need her help as much as the day before. I doubt she minded as she was enjoying her time playing with Monica and Gregg’s soon to be one year old daughter. While Paris was keeping the baby occupied I was able to take Monica and Gregg to a number of locations in and around the pier.
The direction of the sunrise definitely had a lot to do with how I photographed Monica and Gregg’s engagement photos. I utilized a lot of silhouette type photos as well used some of the golden colors from the sun’s early rays that were dancing across the water and along the pier. Plus with Monica and Gregg so in love with each other, I think it all mixed perfectly.
It was a great morning. We definitely got some great shots for Monica and Gregg’s engagement photos. I always enjoy photographing couples like Monica and Gregg. They make it easy for me to do my job and capture those brief, intimate moments loving couples share.
