It’s hard to fathom that the end of the college football season arrived as quickly as it did. I was just getting use to my Saturdays being spent on the field photographing games. Lucky for me that my last game of the season I was able to photograph the Miami Hurricanes beat the Duke Blue Devils on Senior Day at Hard Rock Stadium.
Senior Day for the Miami Hurricanes football signifies two things. One, that this would be the last home game I photograph and two that this will be the last home game for the seniors on the team. It’s a little bittersweet as this senior class were freshman when I began to photograph Miami Hurricanes football games.
After a long season, the end was finally here. The last home game is always the Miami Hurricanes Senior Day and this being the final game of the season against Pitt was no different. It felt different this time from a team enthusiasm stand point. It felt like this team had nothing to play for and it showed during the game.
It was bittersweet to photograph the last Miami Hurricanes home game this past weekend and even more for the graduating seniors who participated in Senior Day. Senior Day is typically the last home game of the season and there is a little pageantry that occurs before the pregame introductions with the families of the graduating seniors. The real story from this game wasn’t Senior Day or the Hurricanes victory over the Virginia Cavaliers, but the weather. I always wanted to shoot in the rain, but there is a limit to how much rain.
