While most of the country is experiencing freezing temperatures and snowy conditions, I’m here enjoying winter on Miami Beach. What is winter on Miami Beach you ask? It’s warm tropical breezes, mojitos on the sidewalk cafes, and basically every tourist is here trying to stay warm. Sure the palm trees and warm weather doesn’t make it feel like the holiday season, but Santa still visits us whether we have snow or sand on the ground. I prefer the sand though.
I had some friends from out of town for the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins football game and I thought a trip to Miami Beach was in order. Sure I wanted them to experience South Beach, but I wanted to go for more selfish reasons. I love South Beach. I love the Art Deco hotels, the South Beach nightlife and not to mention it is a great place for engagement photos.
As we made our way down to Ocean Drive, we strolled up the street enjoying the ocean breeze on the warm tropical day. Winter on Miami Beach sounds inviting right? I brought my camera along for the journey to get some photographs of the Art Deco hotels on Miami Beach. The sidewalk cafes were full of tourists and it was real busy so I concentrated on not including the cafes into my photos. I focused primarily on the architecture and the vibrant colors that adorn the art deco buildings that line Ocean Drive. Speaking of the Art Deco, in Janurary there will be an Art Deco Weekend on Ocean Drive where families can come out and enjoy a good time while appreciating the Art Deco scene.
We didn’t stay too long walking Ocean Drive. It was getting hotter by the second so we decided to cool down with some frozen drinks from Wet Willies. Sure having frozen drinks in winter sounds like a bad idea, but you have to remember that winter on Miami Beach isn’t like winter anywhere else. I could expunge on the perks of living in a tropical paradise, but I’m sure you’re too cold right now to hear about it.
Hopefully these photographs will help you warm up. Time to crank up the AC in the house now, it’s getting hot out.
