Recently I had the opportunity to work with my first male model. Andrew contacted me on my website inquiring about some professional headshots for his model portfolio so he could send them to some model agencies in Miami. After a few emails back and forth we settled on shooting in the Wynwood Art District.
Hi, I’m JC Ruiz and I’m a color blind photographer. Your turn, “Hi JC.” Funny thing about being a color blind photographer is the misconception that I must take amazing black and white photographs or I must have a hard time with my post processing. Well 1 out of 2 isn’t bad, I do take some amazing black and white photographs hahahahahahaha I kid I kid. No but seriously I do hahahahaha I’m pretty sure if I never mentioned I was color blind people would never know the difference.
When Camille Kaye came to me asking me to photograph her album cover for her new album, Solstice, I already knew where I wanted to shoot it, in the Everglades. I’ve worked with Camille numerous times before and we have a good rapport when it comes to me photographing her so I knew this time would be no different. We had a tight schedule and a very small window to get the shoot it, but like other times before we were able to make it happen and boy did we ever.
I know it’s been a while since I’ve done a blog post in a while, but I’m back! I bring you a photo shoot I did with Suraya. This was sort of like a high school reunion of sort. Suraya and myself both went to Miramar High School together and graduated in ’97. Yes that long ago lol
Look who is back, Camille Kaye. I came to Camille with an idea for a shoot back in October but with conflicting schedules it was hard to get the right time in. She had some free time yesterday so we decided to make a run for it and see how my idea would turn out.
Today I bring you the lovely Alex with her enchanting eyes. I met Alex when she was bar tending back at the now defunct Miami Prime. I ran into her at her new job at the Bru’s Room, which just opened another spot down the street from me. We talked for a bit and I showed her the photo shoot I did with Lorell which got her interest in having me shoot her.
Look who is back for the third time, Lorell. Yup, we collaborated again on another photo shoot. What I love about shooting with Lorell is that every shoot is different. First shoot was down in Midtown Miami at night, the second was down on Key Biscayne and this one we were dealing with old school Rolls Royces and Bentleys from Vantage Autos in Miami. So ladies and gentlemen enjoy the ride as I guide you through the shoot with Lorell.
A boudoir photo shoot is an intimate experience. Your subject is there, vulnerable, posing for you. Showing an intimate side of themselves that very few people will ever get to see. As a boudoir photographer you have to capture that intimacy and vulnerability in each boudoir photo shoot that you do.
So there are times when I like to do things I’m not suppose to. Don’t ask me why. Maybe it’s the thrill; maybe I’m crazy. Yesterday was one of those days. I’ve had an idea to have a Miami fashion shoot with the lovely Lorell inside the abandoned Miami Marine Stadium on Key Biscayne and lucky for me, she was up to being as mischievous as me.
