Miami Heat media day kicks off the NBA season for the Miami Heat. Media from many different outlets, radio, tv, online, all congregate to the American Airlines Arena in Miami to get their fill of photos and interviews from the Miami Heat players and coaches. This year’s Heat media day had a different feel to it as it was all about Dwyane Wade and rightfully so. Wade is retiring at the end of the season and training camp begins his farewell tour.

Miami Heat media day is the unofficial start to the NBA season where players and coaches hold interviews with various media outlets as well as pose for their official portraits. It does feel good to know that basketball is right around the corner.

The Miami Heat media day was different this year than in years past. Maybe it had to do with Dwyane Wade leaving to Chicago to play with the Bulls. Or maybe it was the fact that right before Heat media day started, Pat Riley announced that Chris Bosh’s career with the Miami Heat was effectively over. Whatever the reason was this year’s Miami Heat media day wasn’t as fun to photograph as in the past.

Miami Heat Media Day 2013

In my continuing quest to get credentialed to photograph the Miami Heat games, the Sports Brothers, sports radio hosts and bloggers for all of South Florida sports, got me access to the Miami Heat Media day where the Heat players and coaches meet with the media to discuss the upcoming season. Sure I’m a Celtics fan and their rival is the Miami Heat but to get the chance to photograph the players at the Miami Heat Media day was too good to pass up so I had to put my Celtic pride aside and mingle with the Heat players and photograph them as they gave interviews. Such a tough life I know.
